As treatments improve and cancer patients and survivors live longer, there is a growing cohort of survivors living with long-term effects from their cancer treatment. A cancer diagnosis and treatment affects a person not only physically but also emotionally, financially, cognitively, socially, professionally, and spiritually.
Our current health care system is not set up to support survivors with the ongoing effects of their life-saving treatments. For this reason, cancer survivorship programs are being created throughout the country to offer survivors additional support in navigating life during and after cancer treatment. Cancer Community Clubhouse (CCC) is the first ongoing and accessible cancer survivorship program in northern Nevada, filling a gap in cancer support in our local community and offering survivors of all cancers hope and connection at any stage of their cancer journey. Cancer treatment often takes a hefty financial toll on individuals and families, so all of CCC’s programs for survivors and their loved ones are offered free of charge and on a sliding fee scale. We are able to do this important work locally thanks to generous sponsors and donors who believe in CCC's vision of supporting survivors during and even after cancer treatment is complete. |
