CCC Program Descriptions
Art & Creativity - Join us each month at Arts for All Nevada (Lake Mansion, 250 Court St, Reno) to bring out your creative side while exploring various art techniques aimed at increasing self-awareness and decreasing stress and anxiety. Each session will feature a new art or craft project & is a great time to make connections within our cancer community while working with art and creativity for stress reduction. Check the calendar to see what creative project will be featured. All supplies provided. Anyone affected by cancer is welcome to participate in this creativity group: patients, survivors, care partners, and loved ones.
Coffee Connection - Community connection can ease the burden of cancer and improve quality of life during and after cancer treatment. Join us in person to relax with a cup of Joe and connect with other CCC participants to support and be supported in our shared cancer experiences. Anyone affected by cancer is welcome to participate in this peer group: patients, survivors, care partners, and loved ones.
Chair Yoga/Wellness Connection - Mindfulness and wellness activities can help survivors reduce stress and gain mental clarity. Our Wellness Connection program will rotate between two instructors: Tiffany Johnson, a fellow survivor, teaching gentle chair yoga, and Erica LaFrenier, a Qigong Master, guiding us through simple Qigong movements for energy and health. Both groups are accessible to all levels and any survivor is welcome to attend to learn ways to support our minds and bodies helping us reduce stress, gain mental clarity, and find movements to support our physical bodies throughout our survivorship. Dress comfortably. All supplies provided.
YA Connection - This is a special connection group reserved for our YA (young adult) survivors aged18-40. We know that our YA survivors have unique needs in survivorship and many have asked for their own group, so here it is! Join us in person to connect with other YA survivors to support and be supported in our shared cancer experiences. Community connection can ease the burden of cancer and improve quality of life during and after cancer treatment.
Metastatic Peer-to-Peer Group - Are you living with metastatic or stage 4 cancer? This group is just for you! We are so excited to announce a very important and meaningful group for our participants living with metastatic or stage four cancer of any type. The Metastatic Peer-to-Peer group will now be offered twice a month in person! This group allows for a space to be supported and offer support to our peers along our unique walks with metastatic disease.
Sound Bath By Wyatt - Join us to experience ultimate relaxation with a restorative sound bath by Wyatt. During a live sound bath, participants relax to the balancing vibrations of gongs and quartz crystal bowls. The benefits of participating in a sound bath for a cancer survivor may include reduced anxiety, an opportunity to process unresolved emotions, release of tension in the body, and gaining focus and clarity. Please bring anything you need to get comfortable (yoga mat, pillow, blanket, etc).
