Mental Health and Wellness with Dr. Katherine Souza - If you are experiencing emotional impact due to a cancer diagnosis, you are not alone, and this group is here to help along the way. In this lunchtime mental health group, Dr. Souza will guide people affected by cancer through various mental health topics aimed at improving quality of life. (11:30am-1:00pm 1st and 3rd Mondays each month)
Grupo Hispano de Apoyo con la Dra. Olga Mesina - En este grupo de apoyo para hispanohablantes, Olga Mesina guiará a las personas afectadas por el cáncer a través de varios temas de salud mental que tienen como objetivo mejorar la calidad de vida. Si usted está
sintiendo un impacto mental y emocional debido a un diagnóstico de cáncer, usted no está solo(a) y este grupo está aquí
para ayudarle a lo largo del camino. (11:00am-12:30pm El 2 sábado de cada mes)
Coffee Connection Peer Support Group - Community connection can ease the burden of cancer and improve quality of life during and after cancer treatment. Join us in person to relax with a cup of Joe and connect with other CCC participants to support and be supported in our shared cancer experiences. Anyone affected by cancer is welcome to participate in this peer group: patients, survivors, care partners, and loved ones.
Metastatic Peer Support Group - Are you living with metastatic or stage 4 cancer? This group is just for you! The Metastatic Peer-to-Peer group allows for a space to be supported and offer support to our peers along our unique walks with metastatic disease. Community connection can ease the burden of cancer and improve quality of life during and after treatment for metastatic disease.
Art & Creativity - Join us each month at Arts for All Nevada (Lake Mansion, 250 Court St, Reno) to bring out your creative side while exploring various art techniques aimed at increasing self-awareness and decreasing stress and anxiety. Each session will feature a new art or craft project & is a great time to make connections within our cancer community while working with art and creativity for stress reduction. Check the calendar to see what creative project will be featured. This activity is accessible to all levels and anyone affected by cancer is welcome to attend, including care partners and loved ones. All required supplies provided. This program is offered free of charge thanks to generous support from Arts For All Nevada and a private foundation.
Qigong - Erica LaFrenier, a Qigong Master, guides us through simple Qigong movements for energy. Studies show that Qigong practice particularly among cancer patients and survivors can result in improved lung function, mood, sleep, and quality of life, along with reduced stress, pain, anxiety and fatigue. Qigong uses exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit with the goal of maintaining and improving health and wellbeing. In Erica's class you will learn how to embrace, embody, and discover yourself through the practice of Qigong. This activity is accessible to all levels and anyone affected by cancer is welcome to attend, including care partners and loved ones. All required equipment provided. Dress comfortably.
Sound Bath - Join us to experience ultimate relaxation with a restorative sound bath by Wyatt. During a live sound bath, participants relax to the balancing vibrations of gongs and quartz crystal bowls. The benefits of participating in a sound bath for a cancer survivor may include reduced anxiety, an opportunity to process unresolved emotions, release of tension in the body, and gaining focus and clarity. All supplies are provided but you are welcome to bring anything you want to get comfortable (yoga mat, pillow, blanket, etc.). This activity is accessible to all levels and anyone affected by cancer is welcome to attend, including care partners and loved ones. Dress comfortably.
Chair Yoga - Tiffany Johnson, a fellow survivor and trauma-informed yoga practitioner, combines physical postures with breathing techniques and meditation to promote mental and physical well-being. Mindfulness and wellness activities can help survivors reduce stress and gain mental clarity. This activity is accessible to all levels and anyone affected by cancer is welcome to attend, including care partners and loved ones. Dress comfortably. All supplies provided but you are welcome to bring your own mat/bolster/blocks.
